About Country Life

Country Life promotes organics and a healthy lifestyle. To achieve this goal we carry out a wide range of activities: We run an organic farm and bakery, organic stores and vegetarian restaurants in Prague, and a wholesale department featuring healthy products. We present lectures, operate health clubs, organize health weeks, and publish a lifestyle magazine.

Country Life wholesale was founded in 1991, at a time when there was no other health food wholesale structure in the country. Today it offers nearly 2,000 health food items, more than half of them organic.

Certified organic spelt, rye, oats, barley, and buckwheat are grown at Country Life’s organic farm 20 miles from Prague, as are 50–60 varieties of vegetables and fruits. Overall, we farm almost 200 acres of land.

Our organic bakery produces a wide range of organic and whole-grain bakery products.

We operate three vegetarian restaurants and bistros in downtown Prague (a third one will open in spring 2008) and four organic health food stores. In addition, we run a natural cosmetics store and operate a massage therapy room.

In our largest restaurant, at Melantrichova street (near Old Town Square), we provide delicious, healthy, and nourishing vegetarian food, prepared without use of animal products. Our menu includes a wide range of warm cuisine, an assortment of sandwiches, vegetable and leguminous salads with our special soyannaise, wholemeal pizza, whole bread, wholemeal fruit cakes, and a range of fruit and vegetable juices. If you do not have enough time to enjoy your meal in the pleasant environment of our restaurant, we offer you a take-away option.
